Former SFC staff member charged following joint investigation with ICAC

On 16  August, the SFC announced that a former SFC manager had been charged by the ICAC with obtaining access to a computer with a view to dishonest gain following their joint investigation. The staff member was immediately dismissed upon arrest and the SFC fully cooperated throughout the probe. Stating that protecting confidential regulatory information and internal‑system‑access controls constitute its core duties, the SFC is conducting a comprehensive review into risks and internal‑governance issues exposed by the case. It holds staff to the highest integrity, professional‑conduct and confidentiality standards with a zero‑tolerance stance on misconduct, and will provide no further case details given ongoing court proceedings and related investigations.
