First cohort of GenA.I. Sandbox++

On 27 Aug 2026, The HKMA, SFC, IA and MPFA, in partnership with Cyberport, announced the first cohort of the GenA.I. Sandbox++, selecting 36 use cases from nearly 100 submissions, involving 30 financial institutions and 27 technology partners, with projects assessed based on innovation, technical complexity and industry value by an academic‑expert selection committee. Focusing on agentic A.I. applications beyond content generation, the trials will test end‑to‑end workflows including customer onboarding, payments, insurance claims and client interactions, as well as “A.I. vs. A.I.” dynamic oversight of other A.I. systems. Regulator heads highlighted the sandbox’s role in advancing responsible financial A.I. innovation, cross‑sector collaboration and Hong Kong’s status as an international financial and innovation hub. Participants will join Cyberport’s AI Supercomputing Centre platform for technical trials to commence later this year.
