On 21 August 2026, The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, a wholly‑owned subsidiary of HKEX, has introduced a three‑year Temporary Waiver (21 August 2026 ‑ 20 August 2029) which extends the validity period of eligible new listing applications from six months to 12 months subject to prescribed conditions and safeguards, applying to eligible applications remaining valid on, or filed/refiled on or after the announcement date. Building upon the Enhanced Application Timeframe launched in October 2024 with SFC support, the measure offers greater timetable flexibility for applicants, sponsors and advisers to focus on document quality and reduce unnecessary refilings without changing the Exchange’s regulatory standards or investor protections. Benefiting applicants must still comply with all Listing Rules and furnish complete, up‑to‑date information. Sponsors are required to exercise due skill, care and diligence in setting realistic timetables and keep regulators updated on material developments; timelines under the Enhanced Application Timeframe will be adjusted according to the latest submitted progress. The Exchange will monitor implementation effectiveness and may review requirements or conduct public consultations as appropriate.
