On 21 August, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) announced a three‑year temporary waiver under which the validity period for eligible new listing applications will be extended from six months to 12 months from the date of submission of the listing application form. The waiver applies to applications that remain valid on, or are filed or refiled on or after, the announcement date, and no separate waiver application is required. Building on the enhanced application timeframe introduced in October 2024, this measure grants greater flexibility to applicants, sponsors and their advisers in managing listing timetables and reduces duplicate filing work. Regulatory standards and investor‑protection safeguards remain unchanged; applicants must still comply with all applicable Listing Rules and submit complete and up‑to‑date information. The waiver is not available where vetting has been suspended, or where regulatory concerns letters have been issued and not fully resolved, or where a sponsor change triggers a requirement to re‑submit a new listing application. The Exchange will monitor implementation and may review the requirements or conduct public consultation as appropriate.
