HKEX Adds Bursa Malaysia as Recognised Stock Exchange

On 23 July 2026, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) announced that Bursa Malaysia has been designated as a Recognised Stock Exchange (RSE). Under this arrangement, issuers with a primary listing on Bursa Malaysia’s Main Market are eligible to apply for secondary listings in Hong Kong. Bursa Malaysia is now the 21st exchange recognised by HKEX, lifting the tally of RSEs within Southeast Asia to four. The recognition follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier between HKEX and Bursa Malaysia. It also coincides with a separate MOU concluded between Hong Kong’s SFC and Malaysia’s Securities Commission to broaden mutual market access. Chief Executives from both exchanges remarked that the initiative allows Malaysian listed companies to tap into a broader investor base and diversify funding channels. It will also bolster cross-border market connectivity across Southeast Asia and facilitate smoother regional capital flows. HKEX will continue to review and update its RSE list from time to time in compliance with applicable regulatory standards.
