Over-the-Counter (OTC) derivatives reporting requirements
On April 25, 2025, the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announced updates to the technical specifications for Hong Kong’s Over-the-Counter (OTC) derivatives reporting requirements. These updates include revised versions of the Administration and Interface Development Guide (AIDG), Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), and Supplementary Reporting Instructions (SRI), aimed at clarifying implementation concerns for industry participants. The enhanced reporting requirements will take effect on September 29, 2025, following a Government Gazette notice that provides legal backing for mandatory data elements, superseding a previous notice from June 2022. Reporting entities are advised to review the updated materials on the SFC’s webpage and prepare for the upcoming changes. For further inquiries regarding operational matters or regulatory requirements, contact information for the HKTR and SFC is provided.
