The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has issued a warning to the public regarding two entities, “CBEX Group” and “Bitget Pro,” suspected of engaging in fraudulent activities related to virtual assets. Investors have reported difficulties with virtual asset withdrawals, including unauthorized withdrawals, leading the SFC to suspect that these platforms may have deceived investors by providing fake withdrawal records. In response, the SFC has requested the Hong Kong Police Force to block access to relevant websites associated with these entities. However, the SFC cautions that scammers may continue to create websites with similar domain names, emphasizing the need for individuals to remain cautious and vigilant when making investment decisions.
Online investment scams can involve various types of assets and are carried out through multiple channels, posing a significant risk of substantial losses for investors. Therefore, the SFC advises individuals to stay alert and exercise caution to avoid falling victim to fraud when making investment choices.
