The Hong Kong Government has announced the results of the new batch of retail green bonds issued under the Government Green Bond Programme. A total of 321,018 valid applications were received, amounting to HK$30,003,740,000 in principal bonds. The final issuance amount of the retail green bond is HK$20 billion, higher than the target of HK$15 billion. Allocation was conducted based on the mechanism outlined in the Issue Circular. Applicants who applied for eight or fewer lots will receive the full amounts applied for, while those applying for more than eight lots will be allocated eight lots each and entered into a ballot. The retail green bond will be issued on October 10, 2023, and listed on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong on October 11, 2023. Individual allocation results and refund information will be provided by the placing banks and HKSCC according to the schedule in the Issue Circular. The Government aims to promote green transformation and enhance the green and sustainable finance ecosystem in Hong Kong.
