Aker Solutions, a global energy‑focused engineering and technology company, has signed a new agreement with Microsoft to advance the maturity, bankability and delivery of global carbon capture and storage (CCS) and carbon dioxide removal (CDR) projects. Under the deal, the two firms will work with developers, emitters, transport and storage providers, industry stakeholders and governments to support project development, cut execution risks, improve investment readiness including potential CDR credits, and speed up final investment decisions (FID). The partnership combines Microsoft’s strengths in digital technologies, data, AI, monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) and carbon markets with Aker Solutions’ advisory services and end‑to‑end engineering, procurement and construction capabilities. For selected CCS and CDR projects moving towards FID, Aker Solutions and Microsoft will deliver integrated engineering and execution support, enabling developers to go from early‑stage feasibility to operations via a single pathway. Aker Solutions CEO Kjetel Digre and Microsoft Corporate Vice President for Energy and Resources Darryl Willis stated that the collaboration will address project‑level complexities, strengthen business cases and accelerate credible global CCS and CDR projects through value‑chain cooperation.
