HKEX to Launch HKEX Virtual Asset Index Series

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) will launch the HKEX Virtual Asset Index Series on November 15, 2024, providing benchmarks for Bitcoin and Ether pricing tailored to the Asian market. This initiative aims to support Hong Kong’s status as a leading digital assets hub by offering transparent, reliable pricing data that reflects trading activity across major exchanges. The Index Series includes a 24-hour volume-weighted reference price and a daily reference rate, both administered by UK-based CCData. This development aligns with the Hong Kong government’s policy to foster a vibrant virtual asset ecosystem and enhance investor understanding of the market.
