The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued an alert to the general public regarding a press release by Fubon Bank (Hong Kong) Limited, which highlights the discovery of a fraudulent website and an internet banking login screen. The HKMA has been informed of these fraudulent activities and has provided a hyperlink to the press release on their website. It is advised that individuals who have interacted with or provided personal information through the suspicious website or login screen should immediately contact the bank using the contact details provided in the press release. Furthermore, they should also report the incident to the Crime Wing Information Centre of the Hong Kong Police Force by calling 2860 5012.

In addition, the HKMA wishes to remind the public that banks do not send SMS or emails containing hyperlinks that direct customers to their websites for conducting transactions. Banks will not request sensitive personal information, such as login passwords or One-Time Passwords, through phone calls, emails, or SMS messages, including those containing embedded hyperlinks. It is crucial for individuals to exercise caution and be vigilant when dealing with any requests for personal information or transactions through such means.

To ensure the security of personal and financial information, individuals are urged to follow the guidelines provided by the HKMA, contact the bank directly for any concerns, and promptly report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
