Tentative issuance schedule for HKSAR Government Bonds under the Institutional Bond Issuance Programme
On May 8th, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) released a preliminary issuance schedule for Government Bonds (GBs) under the Institutional Bond Issuance Programme. This schedule outlines the tentative tenors, tender dates, issuance sizes, issue dates, and methods of issuance for individual GB issues from April to September 2024. It is important to note that the information provided in the schedule is subject to change based on market conditions. The HKMA reserves the right to make adjustments and may issue a revised schedule if necessary. Additional details regarding the methods of issuance can be found in the Information Memorandum on the Hong Kong Government Bonds website.
In the 2024-25 Budget announcement, it was revealed that the Government Green Bond Programme (GGBP) and Infrastructure Bond Programme (IBP) will gradually replace the existing Government Bond Programme (GBP). Specifics about these new programs will be disclosed in the future. Despite these changes, the HKMA will continue its support for all existing GBs under the GBP. Primary Dealers will also continue their market-making activities by offering bid and offer quotations for outstanding institutional GBs to Recognized Dealers in the secondary market.
