SFC cautions public against bogus calls purportedly from SFC

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) is issuing a strong warning to the public regarding fraudulent calls falsely claiming to be from a financial regulator. The SFC has recently reported a case to the Police where an individual received a bogus voice message call alleging irregularities in their stock trading and requesting further information over the phone. The SFC emphasizes that these calls and messages are entirely fraudulent. It is important to note that the SFC does not engage in the provision of financial services nor does it reach out to the general public for personal financial matters. To protect themselves, individuals are urged to remain vigilant against scam calls and messages pretending to be from the SFC. It is crucial not to disclose any personal information or send money if requested to do so. If there are any doubts or concerns, the public is advised to reach out to the SFC via email at enquiry@sfc.hk.
