The World Bank Board has approved $450 million in financing for the Türkiye Green Industry Project. The project aims to support the transformation of industrial firms in Turkey towards a low-carbon, sustainable, and resilient future. The funding will be directed towards different organizations, including the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Development Organization of Türkiye (KOSGEB), the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBITAK), and the Turkish government. The project will target thousands of industrial firms to reduce carbon emissions, invest in solar energy, and develop green transition plans. The project also aims to promote economic growth, job creation, and the adoption of sustainable development practices. The World Bank views this project as an opportunity for SMEs in Turkey to position themselves for new avenues of growth in an increasingly environmentally conscious global market.
