U.S. EPA Launches $20 Billion ‘Climate Bank’ Programs To Curb Climate Change

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has initiated two grant competitions worth $20 billion under the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund to support clean technology projects in various communities across the country. These competitions aim to encourage private investment in order to create jobs, decrease energy costs, and reduce pollution, particularly in low-income and disadvantaged communities. The competitions will provide grants to national clean financing institutions and hub nonprofit organizations to finance clean technology projects in homes, businesses, and communities. At least 40% of the funds will be allocated to low-income and disadvantaged communities. These competitions are part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda, which aims to establish a clean-energy economy, address climate change, and promote environmental justice while creating jobs.
