Scottish Power, a subsidiary of Iberdrola, has signed a framework agreement worth over €200 million with Haizea Wind Group to supply 50 monopiles for the East Anglia Three offshore wind farm in the UK. The wind farm will have a capacity of 1.4 GW and will provide clean energy to over one million British households.
As part of the agreement, Haizea Bilbao will be responsible for the supply of materials, engineering of the manufacturing process, and production of the monopiles. In addition, Haizea Wind Group will expand its manufacturing plant in the Port of Bilbao to meet the demand, investing over €150 million in new facilities, warehouses, and additional storage areas. This expansion will create 350 new jobs at Haizea Bilbao.
The agreement secures Haizea Wind Group a workload in Bilbao exceeding €1.5 billion over the next four years, enhancing its position as a critical player in the offshore wind energy value chain. The expansion of Haizea’s capacity in the Port of Bilbao will also strengthen its position as one of Southern Europe’s most important offshore wind hubs. The project aligns with Haizea Wind Group’s strategic growth plan to become a significant global supplier to the wind industry, particularly in the offshore foundation supply and manufacturing industry.
