Carbon credit ratings agency BeZero Carbon has announced its acquisition of AI-driven climate data startup Cedar to strengthen the due diligence capabilities of its carbon markets platform. Founded in New York in 2025, Cedar leverages AI agents to automate sustainability workflows including carbon accounting, climate due diligence, emissions reporting and renewable energy analysis. London-based BeZero specialises in carbon credit ratings, research and data services, with its platform offering self-service risk assessment tools such as an AI assistant and geospatial analytics. All three co-founders of Cedar will join BeZero following the deal. The two firms stated the integration will speed up the development of advanced analytical tools and optimise self-service functions and due diligence procedures amid growing market demand for professional carbon ratings. BeZero also plans to secure regulatory status under the EU’s ESG rules later this year. Executives from both sides noted the acquisition will boost the platform’s data insight and risk evaluation capacity, enabling market participants to conduct carbon-related investments with greater certainty.
