Optera Launches Solution Enabling Companies to Collect Emissions Data from Supply Chain

Optera, a sustainability management solutions provider, has announced the launch of its Outreach module as part of its Supply Chain Manager solution. The new capabilities aim to assist companies in efficiently collecting emissions data from suppliers, particularly in the context of increasing regulatory pressure to report on scope 3 emissions. Scope 3 emissions, which occur outside a company’s direct control in their value chain, have become a focal point of sustainability reporting standards such as the EU’s CSRD and the IFRS’ ISSB standards. Optera’s Supply Chain Manager utilizes a database of over 10,000 supplier emissions disclosures to establish a baseline coverage of a company’s scope 3 footprint. The new Outreach module facilitates collaboration with suppliers to address any data gaps. The module caters to suppliers at different stages of reporting readiness, allowing mature suppliers to report facility-level emissions data, verification status, and targets, enabling mid-maturity suppliers to calculate scope 1 and 2 emissions based on energy consumption data, and assisting low-maturity suppliers in estimating emissions using facility details and industry averages. The launch of these new capabilities follows Optera’s $12 million capital raise last year, which aimed to support the expansion of the company’s carbon accounting solutions and services to more mid-market and enterprise companies.
