Fintech Startup Unwritten Raises $3.5 Million for Solution to Integrate Climate Change in Financial Decisions
London-based fintech startup Unwritten has secured $3.5 million in a seed funding round to advance its solutions for integrating climate change into investment and capital allocation decisions. Co-founded by Dr. Phillip Marks and Amos Wittenberg in 2022, Unwritten (formerly Dovetail Finance) offers analytics that enable investors, lenders, and companies to assess climate risks and opportunities at the company level. Their modeling techniques quantify the impact of climate change on the global economy, taking into account technology, regulation, and demand across complex supply chains. Unwritten’s analytics integrate financial data with firm-level information, covering climate exposure for over 40,000 companies.
Unwritten’s Co-founder and CEO, Amos Wittenberg, highlighted the importance of providing meaningful analytics to inform decision-making. The company aims to make financial sense of the climate transition, allowing clients to make informed capital allocation decisions for its development. The seed funding round was led by Connect Ventures, with participation from Planet A Ventures, Sand River, Adapt Nation Capital, and other investors from academia and industry. Rory Stirling, a Partner at Connect Ventures, expressed excitement about partnering with Unwritten and believed in the company’s ability to become a leading player in the emerging field of climate risk intelligence, addressing the significant risks and opportunities associated with the global capital markets’ transition to a low-carbon economy.
