Europe is the fastest warming continent in the world, and climate risks are threating its energy, food security, ecosystem, infrastructure, water resources, financial stability and people’s health. According to the European Environment Agency assessment, many of those risks have already reached critical levels and could become catastrophic if without urgent and decisive action.
Europe’s current policies and adaptation actions are not pacing with the rapidly growing risks. The food security and drinking water supply risks from heat and drought to crop production are at critical level.
Europe’s economy and financial system are facing many climate risks. Climate extremes could increase insurance premium, threaten assets and increase government expenditure and loan costs.
The gap in between could be instrumental input for the European Climate Risks.
