BlackRock has launched a Climate Transition-Oriented Private Debt Fund to meet investor demand for transition-oriented solutions. The fund focuses on providing exposure to middle market companies with low-carbon transition investment opportunities. BlackRock’s survey revealed that 98% of investors have set transition investment objectives, with many aiming for net-zero goals. The fund, part of BlackRock’s Global Private Debt platform, primarily targets European and U.S. middle market direct lending. It utilizes a proprietary Climate Transition Rating Framework to select borrowers based on their climate transition characteristics. BlackRock will actively engage with portfolio companies to support carbon reporting and decarbonization targets.
