New Zealand, BlackRock Launch $1.2 Billion Climate Infrastructure Fund to Accelerate Energy Transition Goals

New Zealand and BlackRock have launched the NZ$2 billion New Zealand net zero Fund to invest in climate infrastructure. The fund aims to support New Zealand’s goal of 100% renewable energy, with investments in clean technology and infrastructure projects such as battery storage, wind and solar energy, green hydrogen production, and electric vehicle chargers. The collaboration includes private sector funds, New Zealand crown companies, and superannuation funds. The fund is part of New Zealand’s Emission Reduction plan and is seen as a game changer for the clean tech sector, while also demonstrating a model for public-private cooperation in achieving a fair energy transition.
