A recent study conducted by Deloitte indicates that almost half of individuals with higher incomes are contemplating switching jobs to work for companies that prioritize sustainability, whereas only 13% of those with lower incomes share the same consideration. Despite similar concerns about climate change, there are noticeable differences in sustainable behaviors, consumption habits, and political engagement between income groups. Economic challenges and increasing costs have hindered personal efforts to address climate change. Individuals with higher incomes exhibit a greater inclination towards choosing sustainable products and adopting sustainable practices, while those with lower incomes often cite cost as a significant obstacle. Variances in workplace decisions and political involvement also exist across income brackets. Understanding these discrepancies helps global leaders to foster collective action and achieve the goals of global emissions reduction as outlined in the Paris Agreement.
