The largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., American Water, has released its seventh biennial Sustainability Report, covering its performance on ESG principles. The report outlines the company’s mission of providing safe, clean, reliable, and affordable water and wastewater service sustainably to customers. The report was prepared in accordance with several sustainability standards and included metrics from various ESG/sustainability reporting templates. American Water highlights its achievements in areas such as water quality, infrastructure, access and affordability, supply resilience, employee health and safety, inclusion, diversity, equity, and emissions. The company has also received various awards and recognition for its commitment to ESG. Starting 2024, American Water will begin publishing the report annually.
