U.S. DOE Invests Over $23 Million to Reduce Carbon Emissions Across the United States

The US Department of Energy is providing $23.4 million for 16 projects across 14 states aimed at accelerating the deployment of carbon management technology. The projects will provide technical assistance and engage stakeholders to reduce emissions from hard-to-decarbonize sectors and meet President Biden’s climate goals. The selected projects aim to facilitate the regional deployment of large-scale geologic storage facilities and work closely with affected communities to reduce project costs and risks. The funding is managed by the DOE’s National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) under the Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM), which has invested over $777 million in more than 100 projects since January 2021 to support carbon capture, transport, and storage approaches.
