Morningstar Sustainalytics has launched Low Carbon Transition Ratings to provide investors with a science-based assessment of a company’s alignment to a net-zero pathway that limits global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. The ratings offer insights into a company’s strategy and actions towards meeting its net-zero commitments, allowing investors to identify and manage transition risks, respond to global regulatory requirements, and build climate investment strategies. The ratings cover approximately 4,000 public companies and will expand to over 12,500 companies by 2024. Morningstar Indexes will introduce a suite of global climate indexes based on the ratings later this year.
