Mercedes Amps Up Renewable Energy Switch With Iberdrola Wind Deal

Mercedes-Benz has taken further steps to reduce its carbon footprint and cut costs by signing a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Iberdrola, a Spanish power company, for 140 MW of wind energy from a wind park in the Baltic Sea. The automaker plans to secure wind capacity in northern Germany and install solar capacity in the south of the country. With this latest agreement, Mercedes will have solar, onshore, and offshore wind PPAs that account for half of its electricity demand in Germany by 2025. The company aims to source 70% of its energy demand from renewable sources that are used in vehicle production by 2030.
